Inspired by the cave paintings of Lascaux, Egyptian hieroglyphics and Mesopotamian proto-cuneiform script, Frank&Robbert Robbert&Frank are developing ceramic works in which they document their own lives and work in the form of simple, symbolic line drawings.

A quintessential part of Robbert&Franks practice as an artist duo is brainstorming. In this work you can see a depiction of the mental process of sharing and discussing new ideas. Usually this is done during lunch or dinner. While partaking food, they also share their opinions and fantasies about upcoming projects or the state of the world in general.

As a duo it is important to present intimate thoughts and emotions to each other and make them visible through speech or drawing. The other is a sounding board for preliminary ideas. This work makes a perfect representation of this process. As such this work symbolizes the birthplace of new artworks.

At the same time, this is a homage to the creative power of dialogue and sharing — sharing both physically (food) and mentally (ideas). Sharing is caring!
